Cool Looks like I started on the ground floor of this jam w/ 68-06=19 I'm looking forward to listening to the progression of this through to 70-11-08
Its interesting to hear the seeds of The other one and Dark Star bloom into full compisition
Did anybody else hear the snippet of Weather Report or were my ears playing subliminal tricks on me?
Thanx for the compiling the list.
Peace

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: MORE Main Tens (a complete list)

I had to correct this list... There are a few more Main Tens than that, and they're all here on the LMA (except for 11-8-69 which was a Dick's Picks).

6-19-68
4-11-69 in Dark Star (short, at 10-minute mark)
4-15-69 in Dark Star (short, at 17 minutes)
11-8-69 (in the Caution)
12-5-69 (after the Uncle John's jam)
5-3-70 (in the Lovelight - audience claps along!)
6-7-70 (after the Other One)
11-6-70 (in the Good Lovin')
11-8-70 (out of Dark Star)

If you like the Main Ten, you may be interested in the Seven, another instrumental jam they did in the early days - there are a couple in the Hartbeats Matrix shows on 10/8/68 and 10/10/68, and there's a short one coming out of the Viola Lee on 3/21/70 (early show) - but the best is on the AUD recording of 9/29/69, it's very tight!

http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-03-21.early.aud.5315.sbeok.shnf

And if you like early versions of jams that later became songs, there's nothing better than the Uncle John's Band jam, famous from 11/8/69 of course, but also done on 11/1/69 (in the Alligator jam) and 11/7/69 (in Dark Star)....

And I have to mention this great home rehearsal tape (very poor sound, but taped by Robert Hunter I think), which has the Dead in fall '69 practicing the Feelin' Groovy and Uncle John's jams at length - and also John Dawson's first version of Friend of the Devil, before Garcia sang it. Priceless stuff!

As if I didnt have enough on my plate, your like going to G.mas house for Thanksgiving, Thank you LiA I'm very interested in exploring all this, I have an old Hartbeats Matrix show in one of these suitcases of music of mine and this is going to give me a reason to go spledunking in that
Dark cavern. Since I've got this cpu about a year ago I've totally neglected to look in my own backyard for these beautiful jams.
Awesome,Wonderful, Its gonna be a grate Labor Day weekend, truly a labor of Love
Peace
